Stefanja Gora
Description: Štefanja mountain, upon which stands the church of saint Štefan, can be found above Cerklje na Gorenjskem. Only a few meters below the peak, there is the hiker's farmstead Pr'Mežnarju, where they will serve you home cooked food.
Access to starting point: From the motorway Ljubljana - Jesenice, take the exit Vodice or Brnik, Kranj - vzhod is also possible, and follow the road towards Cerklje na Gorenjskem. In Cerklje continue along the main road (direction Adergas) to the village Trata, where the markings for Adergas direct us to the right. Follow a slightly narrower road to a large parking area in front of the former monastery in Adergas.
Path description: From the parking lot, we walk along the asphalt road, which continues along the left side of the wall of the former monastery. We follow this road to the first curve, where the marks for Štefanja gora direct us to the right, onto the footpath. After a few dozen paces, the marked path turns left and begins to climb more steeply. Soon, the incline is reduced again and from the left, a path from the water basin joins it. We continue slightly to the right, past a smaller marking down a gently sloping path which turns into a dirt track, usually quite muddy even a few days after the rain. A bit further on, from the left, the path from Velesovo joins too, as we continue up the wide and gently sloping dirt track. The light path then brings us to a marked crossroads with a smaller chapel next to it.
We continue right, in the direction of the "bench" (left "well") along the track which gradually begins to climb at a reasonable incline. Higher, the path leads us to three benches in a row ("bench path"), from where a beautiful view of Gorenjska opens to us. The track then leads into a forest, turns into a rather steep footpath, which, in turn, begins to level out quite quickly and leads us from the forest onto an expansive grassy area, across which we reach asphalt and then the hiker's farm Pr Mežnarju in a few minutes.
From the farm, we continue along one of the two paths, which climb over a partly steep grassy area. After a good 5 minutes of walking on, we step onto Štefanja gora, where we see the church of St. Štefan.
